The Democratic Republic of the Congo, located in Central Africa, is the 3rd largest nation in terms of area in Africa. The economy of the Democratic Republic of Congo is highly based on agriculture and mining. The country has rich deposits of natural resources. Chief crops are coffee, palm oil, rubber, cotton, sugar, tea, cocoa, cassava, plantains, maize, groundnuts and rice. Natural resources of the country include copper, cobalt, zinc, manganese, coal, uranium, cassiterite (tin ore), gold and silver. Main industries are mining, mineral processing, consumer, cement and commercial ship repair. |
